Organization Profile
The Mulford Community Teaching Garden (MCTG) has been operating since 2008 with myself, family members, residents, community groups, and student volunteers. It is a community flower and vegetable garden located on several lots in Homewood South ~ Pittsburgh, PA. It is designed to remove the scenery of blight and uneasiness vacant lots can bring to one’s mind and educate residents on growing food in their own backyards. Those images were replaced with a variety of beautiful flowers blooming and vegetables ready for harvesting on the corner of Mulford and Hale streets throughout spring, summer, and fall. It really can be a spectacle. It brings a ray a sunshine and peace to that section of the community.
