Community Partners

How to Partner with us to Recruit Volunteers

Is your nonprofit, school, or government agency looking for volunteers?  Would you like to be able to network, receive training and colaborate with other organizations?  We are excited to partner with you to help your organization achieve its mission and goals!

STEP 1:
Complete our short on-line registration form. This will get you into our database! Click here to complete this step.

STEP 2:
Consider how to best utilize Pitt students to fulfill your mission. By creating a plan for engagement you will be ready to post opportunities that are both meaningful and productive to you and our students. Students enjoy understanding how their service will directly impact your agency, your clients, and your community. By sharing with them how each projects accomplishes one of these, you are inspiring future participation!

STEP 3:
Make a back up plan for your volunteer activities! Weather can alter plans and students work much faster than expected! Be sure to have a "wish-list" of items to complete if your out-door project(s) can't proceed, or the project you thought would take all day is finished in less than an hour!

Thank you!  Someone will contact you shortly to discuss your volunteer needs.

Ways that PittServes collaborates with Community Partners every year:

  • Volunteer Fair, every year typically in September PittServes welcomes community partners onto campus to table and recruit volunteers
  • *Civic Action Week, typically in October we host a week long event focused on community engagement workshops and end the week with two days of Service. One on Friday (focused on staff/faculty volunteers) and Saturday (mostly focused on student volunteers)
  • *MLK Day of Service, held on MLK Day (the third Monday of January), this day of service is solely indoor project due to Pittsburgh’s weather
  • Summer Job and Volunteer Fair, in partnership with the Career Center we host a two hour long fair, typically at the end of March.
  • *Be A Good Neighbor Day, typically a Saturday in late March or early April.
  • *Signature Days of Service: these happen every year typically around the same time. We start planning community partner project roughly three months in advance. Sign up for our newsletter to stay up to date.
