Selfhelp Community Services

The Virtual Senior Center (VSC) was launched more than a decade ago, trailblazing the way for homebound older adults to combat isolation and loneliness through live online learning. The VSC is the brainchild of Selfhelp Community Services, a not-for-profit that provides a broad set of homecare and community-based services to more than 20,000 elderly, frail and vulnerable New Yorkers each year. Its overarching goal is to help seniors live with dignity and independence. Selfhelp was founded 85 years ago to help Europeans settling into North America, and is the oldest and largest program serving this population. Today the VSC continues to transform lives, extending beyond New York to all around the country through its innovative and interactive programs, cultural experiences, discussion groups and chats.
